You'll be suprised by how much is involved in the moving process. With this in mind, we at Bannock Storage & RV Parking thought it might be a good idea to give everyone who reads this site some handy advice which, if followed, can help make the whole process go a lot smoother.
Preparation and planning are essential components of a successful, cost-effective move.
The best way to save money is to do the packing yourself. Boxes can be found at local reatailers such as Lowes, Home Depot, U-Haul and others.
Make sure you pack your belongings properly and label each box clearly. Pack your books and other heavy objects in small boxes so they're easier to handle. Squat, don't bend over, and use your legs to lift any heavy objects. Also, disassemble large furniture pieces so they'll fit easily through the door.
When loading items into your storage unit, plan ahead. If there are some items you may need to access MORE than others, set them off to the side to load in last.
To prevent moisture damage, place a cloth or plastic tarp on the ground beneath furniture.
Where possible, store items on end (such as couches, mattresses, etc.) to make more space.
Tip #7: Perhaps the MOST IMPORTANT ONE!
When selecting a lock for your unit, we recommend a disc lock. Much more secure than a standard padlock. Bannock Storage offers them to our clients for only $8.00 each.
